Algebraic Genomics seminar: Nandakumar -- Algebraic geometry in statistical genomics (Expository)

Sturmfels and his collaborators gives an approach to statistical genomics using
algebraic techniques. Tropical algebraic geometry can be used to construct hidden
Markov models. These can in turn be used to locate disease genes. This is an
expository overview, following [Sturmfels-Pachtner] ``Algebraic Statistics and
Computational Biology".
