Gromov-Witten invariants of the two-sphere and mirror symmetry.
Abstract: I will describe the well-studied problem of the Gromov-Witten invariants of the two-sphere. The Gromov-Witten invariants can be calculated via a rigorous notion of mirror symmetry using Frobenius manifolds. New insight into this problem comes from recent ideas of Eynard and Orantin who have developed a tool in complex analysis for studying enumerative problems in geometry.
