Congratulations to Steve Lack on the award of the Australian Mathematical Society Medal for 2009, jointly with Ian Wanless. The prestigious Medal is awarded to a member of the Society under the age of 40 years for distinguished research in the mathematical sciences.
Steve, from the University of Western Sydney, is a graduate of the University of Sydney and is active within our School as a Research Associate and John Bourke's supervisor. Former recipients of the Medal include Andrew Mathas (2006), Fields Medalist, Terry Tao (2005), Alex Molev (2001) and the previous Vice-Chancellor, Gavin Brown (1982).
