Computing Information for Visitors

Your account

A Linux account on the server enna will be set up for you. You will be asked to nominate a password (different from passwords you use elsewhere).

The Linux account is accessible from all office Y-terminals by selecting the item enna in the menu of hosts. There is a Y-terminal suitable for visitors in room 612, just to the right of the door; or maybe use one of the terminals in the "honours students" room 729/730.

Your account and any remaining files will be deleted shortly after your departure date.

WiFi wireless

Wireless networks are operated by central ICT (not by Maths support), please see www.maths.usyd.edu.au/s/lscnitm/psz-WirelessForVisitors

Wired network

If you have a laptop or other computer (including ICT-managed PCs and Macs) and it has an RJ-45 UTP Ethernet port, it may be possible to provide a connection for it in your office (on our internal School network), please ask if interested: please see www.maths.usyd.edu.au/s/scnitm/psz-Laptops-WirelessAndWiredC about some setup. (You need to set automatic network address recognition via DHCP, and set web browsers to use direct access i.e. no proxies. The connection is behind a transparent proxy firewall).

SSH access

You may access your Linux account on enna via ssh, with plain password from the School internal wired network, or with 2-factor authentication (e.g. from "home" or from a wireless connection): see www.maths.usyd.edu.au/u/psz/ssh-howto.html instructions.

Printing

Please see
www.maths.usyd.edu.au/u/psz/printing.html for details.

Support

The School Local Front Page www.maths.usyd.edu.au/local.html may contain useful information.

To report problems or seek help on the computer system, please send email to support@maths.usyd.edu.au .
